‘There is a difference between expecting a bad year and expecting challenges.‘
So I am claiming it mine!
Hello,
2021 has already started with a bit of hiccups (read lockdowns) but as quoted above let’s just name it challenge number one. It won’t be a bad year. This isn’t a motivational post, or a 2021 resolutions post simply because I am uncertain what this year holds. When 2020 started, I just knew it was going to be my year, although it didn’t come without challenges. It wasn’t as bad as could have been and I am so grateful for that. This year, I am taking it one day at a time but I will live my best life as I do. Come December, no regrets!
Experiencing Love
Not to say I do not experience love. My relationship with my husband has just taught me to love in so many ways I never knew I could love. The hard lockdown reminded me that how we express love to ourselves, our families, our friends, and to humanity as a whole matters. This is how the world experiences us. In 2021, I will love boundlessly.
Be Authentically Me
Writing has always been me. My first memories of me writing creatively (trying to anyway) are of me writing lyrics to ‘Asi Chabuda Hapana’ in red on my mother’s white walls when I was 7. I got a beating for that.
Before starting this blog in July 2020, I had last written in 2018. Life happens. I always felt something was missing. Writing again has made me happier. I feel like I have come back to me. In 2021, I will be authentically me and keep doing what makes me happy by sharing my best self through my writings.
Count My Blessings
The past year has been dubbed ‘bad’ by many. I definitely did not cruise through it. It came with a lot of things we had to learn and get used to. The new normal. It reminded us our mortality and by so doing brought us back to the important things,
The best things in life are not things. The best things in life are free.
We learnt how fragile our existence is. How easily we could all be gone. Moments like these make us refocus and think about the important things. That sometimes in the midst of all those worries and anxieties, we are blessed to be here. We should be grateful for every moment we live, time with family, and not take the small things we do for granted. In 2021 I hope not to get distracted by others because success is personal (you can read about that here.) I will count my blessings and remember to be grateful for the simple things.
How are you going to make 2021 yours?
I just knew the beating part was coming before I read it 😂.
Cheers to learning how to love in new ways!
Happy New Year, sister!

I love the sound of Twenty Twenty Mine and I’m claiming it for me too.
This year, I have decided to be intentional and more daring.
I refuse to be scared of doing something new and different.
Thank you and Happy New Year dear Sue.
